Melbourne Docklands is the new waterfront urban redevelopment project in Melbourne. When completed in 2015, it is expected to become home to 20,000 people.
The area was occupied by various cargo docks since the begging of Melbourne. When new container ships required deeper water and more space, new docks were build closer to Yarra mouth. The waterfront area in the proximity of city became vacant for up-market urban redevelopment project. |
