Kuranda is a little town near Cairns. There are several tropical wildlife attractions here. The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary has the largest collection of free flying butterflies in Australia. However, most of butterflies are the same; there are only several different species here.
Birdworld Kuranda is a sanctuary advertised as Australia's largest collection of free flying birds; there are more then 500 birds here. Rare wild birds are quite shy, but various species of parrots are more than happy to be photographed. Parrots are smart enough to know that tourists have some tasty seed.
