| Similar to koalas, wombats have an extraordinarily slow metabolism, which makes them generally a flegmatic and a slow moving animal. When required, however, they can reach up to 40 km/h. This is unusual because wombats walk and run on full feet. |

In the wild, there are places where people were feeding wombats for a long time so animals coming to beg for food. Parks authority is appealing to 'keep our wildlife wild' and not feed any animals, including wombats.
In Wilsons Promontory wombats are often seen begging for food in the caravan park at Tidal River. It is advised not to leave any food in the cars, as wombats could rip your tent and get inside. This can be scary and even dangerous. Agressive wobmat can knock over a man, their sharp teeth and powerful jaws can result in severe wounds. This is not what you expect from a cute and sleepy animal! |
