| Torquay is one of the favorite surfing locations around Melbourne. There is a small town with large "Surf world" shopping centre with many shops and factory outlets, and several beaches. Most famous beach is Bells Beach, there is usually a good swell there and several surf competitions starts here. Main town surf beach has calmer conditions and popular for boogie board (or body board) as well as less experienced surfers. In between there is Jan Juc beach. |

| Most popular beaches in Australia are patrolled by voluntary life savers. They put red and yellow flag to mark safest location for swim. Surfers are kept away from swimmers as they running at high speed and may hurt swimmers with rigid boards.
Every year hundreds of people are rescued on the beaches by life savers.
